The Time Has Come to Move Your Company to Salesforce Lightning!

About this event

Since Salesforce's announcement of its new-age platform, companies large and small have been wondering if it makes sense to make the switch from Salesforce Classic to Salesforce Lightning.  Many CTOs have made the point: "If it's not broken, why fix it?"  Inherent in this statement is the implicit understanding that along with the change-over come all the risks of adopting a bleeding-edge technology as well as the need to retrain their users in the new technology and UI.
As we approach Dreamforce 2016, I am convinced that it is time to make the switch.  The advantages of the new platform are significant and undeniable.  (Lightning) Features like single-page-design and adoption of mainstream client technologies like JavaScript are a recognition by Salesforce that Classic is not only showing its age, but needs to be redesigned from the ground-up.  That effort has been long in development, and is now ready to be adopted entirely and immediately. The difference between Lightning of a year ago (2015) and this year is staggering.  The offering has been bulkified, speeded up, streamlined and has otherwise grown up.  Classic, on the other hand, is a year older and simply unable to keep up with the mountain of data IO and UI requirements that today's enterprise is capable of generating. Don't waste another dime of IT spend on Classic.
This month's DUG session will uncover the strategies that you must execute upon to move your Org to Lightning, the immediate advantages gained, the justification to your company's leadership and the dangers of remaining with Classic.  I'll start with 'how you must think of Lightning'.  That is, what is the paradigm shift in a developer's thinking that is necessary to get there from here.  I'll also cover the architectural skills that you need to master immediately... before you undertake the transition process, and finally I'll go over the 'gotchas' that you could run into if you step wrong in your transition.
So, what is Lightning? How do I manage the change? What is the paradigm change from Classic? What happened to my tabs? Where are my buttons? What in goodness' name is a Component? All will be answered at this month's Dallas Salesforce Developers Group meeting.
Pssst.  Secret agenda. Don't tell anyone...Your DUG leadership will have just returned from the MVP summit and Midwest Dreamin' in Chicago.  To the extent that we can skate around our NDAs, we will bring you the insiders' preview of what you'll see at Dreamforce 2016.  Be in the know, plan on attending this months Dallas DUG meeting!
