February's topic is "The Rise of JavaScript - A Salesforce Survival Guide". From familiar stalwarts like the Ajax Toolkit, Console API, and RemoteActions, to newer entries like hybrid mobile apps using the Salesforce Mobile SDK, and high-performance customer-facing proxies with Node.js on Heroku, there is no denying it: JavaScript is a huge part of the Salesforce Platform.
With the arrival of Salesforce Lightning Components, JavaScript's role in a Salesforce Developer's life will be changing. It's going to go from omnipresent background player to full-fledged co-star, taking center-stage with Apex.
This meetup will focus on what JavaScript's rise means to Salesforce Developers. To help us navigate the new, exciting (and maybe a bit scary!) waters ahead, we are proud to have Josh Birk, Developer Evangelist from Salesforce, share some of his thoughts, and to show us how powerful JavaScript and the Salesforce Platform can be together.
The event starts at 6pm with dinner and networking. Come early to enjoy FREE food and craft beer while getting to know fellow Salesforce developers! New developers (and curious admins) are always welcome, and "Volunteer Evangelists" will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance. We will also have a raffle to give away some Salesforce goodies!
The presentation begins at 7pm, followed by Q&A. After the presentation, we will discuss next-steps for anyone wishing to enhance their JavaScript skills in the context of Salesforce Development. As always, the meeting will close with an open-topic discussion. This is a great chance to share recent challenges, and get expert advice on overcoming them.
This meetup should be a lot of fun, so RSVP today! See you on January 6th!
