Oct 6, 2020, 11:00 PM – Oct 7, 2020, 12:00 AM (UTC)
Salesforce User Group, Wellington, New Zealand
Emily is the 4th speaker in our Inspiring Trailblazers occasional series. Emily is a proud Kiwi, currently based in Brisbane, working for Deloitte Digital and currently on parental leave. She's blazed Salesforce trails since 2010. She is highly certified and working towards CTA. All Ohana welcome Queries/registration issues: anna.loughnan@trailblazercgl.com
Emily McCowan started as an Accidental Admin after graduating university 10 years ago. From starting off completely unfamiliar with Salesforce, not knowing how to build a report, or really understanding what the cloud even is, today she holds both the Application Architect and System Architect certifications (along with 11 other Salesforce certifications). Her next big audacious goal is to become a Salesforce Certified Technical Architect - although this goal is currently on pause while she’s on maternity leave with her daughter, born in May this year.
Emily will share her story, what she’s learned along the way, some tips and resources on both studying for your architect certifications as well as how to navigate the career path, and overcome imposter syndrome to become an architect.
You don’t need to be on the Architect journey for this session - we’re happy to chat about all sorts of Salesforce certifications and learning pathways. You will find Emily's insights very inspiring. We warmly welcome all from the Salesforce Ohana to our weekly virtual meetings.

Emily is a certified Salesforce architect with 10 years’ experience on the platform. She’s an active member of the Ohana, founding the Brisbane Women in Tech community group 5 years ago, running the Brisbane NFP hackathon, helping organise several years of the Down Under Dreaming Brisbane conference, and she was a 2x Salesforce MVP. Emily is a Kiwi living in Brisbane with her husband, baby daughter, and two cats.

Our weekly virtual meetings, Wednesdays at 12 noon (*NZ Time*) have been attracting a growing number of attendees, both from around New Zealand, but also worldwide as well. So please be sure to save the registration into your calendar so you have the correct time and date recorded - for what it's worth, when this meeting runs (Oct 7), New Zealand will be on summer daylight saving time, with the USA yet to change out of summer time.
It has been so wonderful to leverage international connections to bring the best of the Salesforce world to us in little old Wellington :-)
We will be continuing with regular virtual meetings until at least the end of November.
Please note that all virtual meetings are hosted on Zoom. The meeting Zoom link will be emailed to those who are registered, 30 minutes prior to the meeting start.
