About this event

This December 2024, the world celebrates the 40th anniversary of Band-Aid's classic song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" It became the catalyst for other global musical charity events like “USA for Africa,” “Farm AID,” and “Live AID,” as well as other social justice causes like “Sun City.”

Inspired by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Harry Chapin, and Bob Geldof, plus taking into account this year is the 40th anniversary of Band-Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, we're trying something ambitious with finding Trailblazers around the USA (and maybe the world?) to find time to work in their local food banks, soup kitchens, or homeless shelters this December 2024 – the 40th anniversary of the recording’s release to the world.

The information below is where we will gather here in Oakland, CA at the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) to work at helping drive forward with an effort to end hunger, while our other Trailblazers take up the cause in their communities from coast to coast.
