This session is an open, collaborative exploration of the Salesforce Pub/Sub API and gRPC, aimed at developers who are interested in learning more about these topics. I’m currently working with my Salesforce platform team to implement these technologies at NAV, and since I’m new to these areas, this session is designed to help us better understand their benefits and practical uses.

We’ll aim to:

- Get a grasp of the Salesforce Pub/Sub API and how it helps with real-time data integration and event handling, particularly in large organizations.
- Explore gRPC (Google’s Remote Procedure Call framework), which provides scalable, low-latency communication through bi-directional streaming and HTTP/2.
- Discuss how large organizations like NAV might benefit from using Pub/Sub API with gRPC, especially in handling real-time event streams efficiently across multiple systems.
- Understand how gRPC and Pub/Sub API improve upon CometD, which has been traditionally used for event streaming, and why gRPC offers better performance, higher throughput, and more control over event consumption.
- Walk through some practical examples of subscribing to Platform Events and Change Data Capture (CDC) using gRPC.
- Go through a demo, attempting to interact with the Pub/Sub API using gRPC.
- Encourage open discussion and knowledge sharing—if you have experience with these technologies, your insights would be highly appreciated!

Whether you're just starting with Salesforce Pub/Sub API and gRPC like me, or if you're experienced and want to share your expertise, this session will provide a space to explore, learn, and better understand how these tools can be implemented in Salesforce integrations, particularly for large organizations.
