Jonathan Green walks us through how Salesforce Connect allowed him to store billions of records in DynamoDB and let users still view, report, and search on these records as if they were stored in Salesforce.
“Salesforce is a lot of things, but it’s not cheap cloud storage.” – Jonathan, many times over many years.
“Until now” – Jonathan now, with the DynamoDB connector.
Jonathan Green will show how with clicks (not code) you can connect the cheap, fast, scalable cloud storage of DynamoDB so Salesforce users can have full CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) access to that data. Salesforce becomes the front end for 2 databases: Salesforce and DynamoDB. Then he'll show you how to use a batch class (it’s only 75 lines of APEX total!) and some custom metadata, to create a flexible data archiving solution that in some ways is even better than the vendors I love, because it uses the standard Salesforce UI to display the archived data and we can still access and manage the data via SOQL, DML, and flows in Salesforce.
