About this event

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the world celebrates the 40th anniversary of Band-Aid's classic song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" It became the catalyst for other global musical charity events like “USA for Africa,” “Farm AID,” and “Live AID,” as well as other social justice causes like “Sun City.”  In honor of this anniversary, Trailblazers around the USA (and maybe the world?) are taking time to work in their local food banks, soup kitchens, or homeless shelters on and around Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The DG Admin group will be volunteering at West Suburban Community Pantry.

We are limited in how many people we can bring, so only sign up if you're able to commit.  A waitlist will be available

If you're unable to make it in person but want to contribute (or can make it and want to give more), you can make a monetary donation

Details for Volunteers

  • Due to increased demand at the pantry, they are asking all groups to consider bringing a food donation as well. A list of the most needed items can be found here

  • Dress: Closed toe shoes are required and comfortable clothes encouraged.

  • Park at the Seven Bridges Ice Arena, 6690 IL-53, Woodridge (see map). Do not use the pantry address for directions. Drive around the ice arena to the parking lot on the west side of the building, closest to the fence. Walk through gate in fence with pantry logo. They are located in the industrial building on the other side of the fence, on the end, to the left.

  • All volunteers need to sign a waiver. (Linked here) If that doesn't work, download and print from this link and bring it to the volunteer shift.

  • Volunteers should be able to stand, twist, bend, and comfortably lift a gallon of milk in each hand. If any volunteers require seated accommodations, please let us know.
