BSAG Speaks Presentation Showcase (In-Person)

May 8, 2023, 9:00 – 11:30 PM

Join your fellow admin group members to cheer on 8 speakers from our group as they each share an 8 min presentation on a topic they are passionate about!

About this event

The BSAG Speaks Presentation Showcase is a special event where you'll learn a lot from your peers in the Boston Admin Group! There will be a set of presenters who are each offered 8 mins to share something they are passionate about. The BSAG Speaks program consists of three workshops to help participating group members each prepare a presentation on a topic they are interested in and think the admin community will benefit from. As the date draws nearer, we'll update this event listing to include their speaker names, presentation titles, and abstracts. Come join this event to support your fellow group members on their public speaking journeys! Odds are good you'll learn a few things, too.

As they are finalized, we will continue to add to the following Title and Abstract list:

---- Nora Frederickson - Apex for Newbies: A Use Case ----

How do you decide whether to use flow or Apex to meet a new user requirement? While in some cases it can be a matter of preference, in this session we’ll cover one case where writing in Apex significantly simplified the end process, comparing both the attempted flow and the final Apex class and trigger.

----- Bill Hare - Do you need to call a Plumber for Your Salesforce Org? -----

Technical Debt in Salesforce can be like having a clogged drain in your house. Instead of calling a plumber, join us and find out what those "drains" are to your org and why they are important to get fixed.

----- Erin Gullage - Smashing Barriers: Assistive Technology that Enable Users with Disabilities to Leverage Salesforce -----

Users with disabilities can encounter barriers that limit their ability to access and use Salesforce effectively. This presentation will identify several accessible tools that will help people with disabilities navigate Salesforce successfully. Whether users have visual impairments, hearing impairments, or limited mobility, by leveraging these accessibility features, they'll gain equal access to Salesforce and be able to take full advantage of its powerful CRM capabilities.

---- Khadija Ashurova - Trailblazer From Zero To Hero ----

In this session, learn about my self-learning journey through overcoming obstacles to becoming a hero in this field. My goal is to inspire you in your own Salesforce journey.

---- Jeff Mitchell - Creating Data Harmony: Making Salesforce Thrive in Your Business Ecosystem ----

While you love Salesforce, the chances are opinions may vary greatly on your team. Whether it was a prior admin, under-investment or larger changes, your Salesforce may be resembling more of a data swamp than an actual reliable system. Let’s talk about tips and strategies to make Salesforce a functional piece in your business system puzzle.

---- Brooke Mohnkern - End of Permissions on Profiles you say?--Um, no thank you... ----

Taken at face value the retirement of Permissions on Profiles may appear more burdensome than helpful, but it's actually a great opportunity to evaluate your permissioning paradigm and move towards a more secure and efficient model. Oh, and by the way it is not optional. Join Brooke Mohnkern to learn what's happening and how you can plan for and tackle the job.

---- Enrik Hysko - Trailblaze for Your Users with In-App Guidance ----

Every modern software is using In-App Guidance to provide step-by-step prompts, share information, train, or onboard users. Salesforce not only uses it, but takes it to the next level, by giving the power to admins to add guidance on their own with a few clicks, right from within the Salesforce UI. In this session we will explore exactly what In-App Guidance is and how it can help you achieve a great user experience in a declarative manner.
