Come learn why you should know about Profiles, Permission Sets and Sharing Settings, and how you can use those tools in interesting ways!
Profiles, Permission Sets, Sharing Settings... Sounds boring, doesn't it?
You bet it's boring! And for the odd small to medium sized nonprofit, it might seem kinda pointless.
Why can't everyone just be System Admins, and keep it simple like that?
Here's why...
Because some of your users JUST cannot to be trusted to:
- Not accidentally destroy your precious data (which is why security is important)
- Not to pester you with questions like "Why can't I find Blah Blah Blah?" (which is why clean User Experiences are important)
- Not steal Social Security Numbers from your data and start an identity theft racket (Okay, maybe that's a bit too far...)
Nonetheless, let's get together and see how we can leverage Profiles, Permission Sets and the like to:
- Make sure only people who should have access to certain data... have access to that data
- Create a simplified and personalized User Interface so that noobs and the technologically disadvantaged aren't as lost in Salesforce as they're inclined to be otherwise
- If none of the above matter to you, then learn some concepts that'll be beneficial in getting that Certified Salesforce Admin cert!
- If STILL none of the above matter to you, then get together and eat a delicious lunch
