When Trish, one of our fearless leaders, met up with the director of a school in Cambodia for disadvantaged youth, she decided to use the Salesforce's Higher Ed Data Architure (HEDA) edition to set up a sorely needed school management system there. Phare Ponleu Selpak is a visual and performing arts school in Battambang, Cambodia. Oh, and there's a circus!
Phare Ponleu Selpak is a visual and performing arts school in Battambang, Cambodia. Created by young people returning to their homes after the horror of the Pol Pot era, the school offers a full range of artistic instruction, including graphic design, computer animation, traditional and more contemporary music and dance, and a five-year circus program. Trish Perkins, one of our co-leaders, spent three weeks on-site this summer and will give us a glimpse of the Higher Ed Data Architecture -- now renamed EDA to include schools of all kinds-- that she used to build the school management system. School administration had been using an elaborate and inefficient spreadsheet system to schedule classes, enroll students, and keep track of student performance. We'll see how she streamlined the out-of-the box structure to meet the needs of the school, and hear about how her counterparts on-site set up the training and user adoption sessions that set the stage for a successful transition. And we'll see photos from the school, the art they produce and some pix of one of their circus performances.
