About this event

What do you get when you cross Speed-Dating with great conversations?

A World Café!

But what is a World Cafe?

A World Cafe is a method of hosting conversations on many topics, allowing for fast sharing of knowledge and ideas. It’s also a great way to connect with many people in a short space of time. We would love for you to join in this very special, first of it’s kind User Group meeting as we would like to drive future meetings from what may come out of this unique process.

How does a Work Café work?

You can think of a World Café is like speed-dating around Topics or Questions. Topics and questions are selected to spur conversation and ideas. Small tables placed around a venue, much like a coffee shop. Each table is allocated a Topic or Question. As the World Café starts, each table will have 4-5 people seated at a table. One person will be nominated as the Table Host and will act as a Facilitator to drive the conversation and take note of ideas, topics and themes that may arise. Then the conversations begin! After 12-15 minutes the conversations stop, everyone except the Table Host will move to another table. participants try to join a table with people they have not met before or were not on the table they were on previously. Before the next round of conversations begin, the Table Host plays back briefly the ideas and themes from the previous conversation. Then the next conversation begins building on to the ideas and themes from the previous conversations. This will go on until everyone has had a turn on each table.

And then what?

Then the Harvest begins. The Harvesting is where each Table Host takes turns to play back the Key Ideas, Themes and any suggested Actions or Initiatives that came out of all the conversations. This is where all participants get access to the deep knowledge and wisdom that is held within the Group but was unable to surface.

So what are the outcomes of a World Cafe?

As this method of communication is so dynamic, there are never any outcomes defined, rather through the interactions and Harvesting, outcomes will reveal themselves.

The Canberra Admin & Developer Groups are pleased to promote this great initiative by show casing it at our November meeting. We'll also give a run down on the best bits of the Winter '20 Salesforce release and a new Trail on how to responsibly volunteer your Salesforce skills on pro bono projects with nonprofit and educational organisations.
