Please start with a brand new developer org as it makes it much easier to figure out what's wrong if you get stuck.
- Go to Github.com and sign up for an account.
- Go to heroku.com and create an account, make sure to use Salesforce email address
- Go to salesforce developer and create a brand new developer org.
- Go through the Heroku Enterprise Basics Trailhead
