Community Workshop: Let's Talk Dashboards

What this session is (and isn't)

This is a community workshop, not a step-by-step build-along. We're not going to teach "how to build a report." Instead, we're getting together to explore the bigger picture of Salesforce dashboards:

• What are dashboards, really, and what makes a good one?

• The cool stuff people have built. Bring your wins and show them off.

• The stuff that's driving you crazy. Bring your headaches and let's troubleshoot together.

• Ideas, questions, and "is it just me, or…" moments

The format is exactly what it sounds like: people in the room workshopping it together. Whether you're here to lend a hand or to pick some brains, you belong here.

Who should come

• Got experience with reports & dashboards? Come lend a hand. Your real-world know-how is the whole point.

• Looking for ideas, or just want to ask some questions? Also absolutely welcome. No question is too basic.

What to bring

• 💻 A laptop is strongly recommended. If you'd like to get hands-on with anything during the session, you'll need to bring your own. Laptops will not be provided.

• 📶 Guest Wi-Fi will be available.

• A dashboard you're proud of, a problem you're stuck on, or a question you've been sitting on

• An open, collaborative mindset. This is a peer-to-peer event.

Before you come

The focus will be on the dashboard side of things, so it helps to arrive with some familiarity building reports (custom report types not required). If reports are second nature to you already, you're all set.

New to building dashboards or want a refresher? We recommend completing this Trailhead module beforehand so you can get the most out of the session: Reports & Dashboards for Lightning Experience — Visualize key business metrics in real-time using Lightning Experience.

Bonus: the hands-on challenges run in a free Trailhead Playground that comes pre-loaded with sample data. It's a perfect sandbox to practice building reports and dashboards, and one you can bring to the workshop to experiment in.

Note: Trailhead is free. You'll just need to sign in with your Trailblazer account (or create one, also free) to complete the module and spin up your Playground.

Parking & building access

• Free guest parking is available in the guest lot on the corner of 1st and Madison St.

• There's a gate at the entrance on Madison Street. Just pull up to the gate and it will open automatically. The lot is free for event guests. 

• Overflow parking is available on the streets; please be mindful of parking regulation signage.

Non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks will be provided. ☕
