With Anonymous Apex scripts, administrators can query and manipulate data in-place quickly and easily, and can replace many tasks which would require exporting, manipulation, and re-importing. From changing a field value across a whole set of records to "touching" a set of records to cause a workflow to fire or copying data from one object to another, Anonymous Apex can save time and effort. 

Salesforce.com MVP Thomas Taylor will cover where Anonymous Apex can be used, the basic structure of SOQL queries and key Apex language features, and walk through several specific scenarios. In addition to being a very useful tool, Anonymous Apex scripts are a great way to start learning Apex without worrying about Test coverage, VisualForce interfaces and the like.
