Mobile Developer Week Meeting w/ Tom Gersic

Join us for the Chicago DUG session of Mobile Developer Week! 40 Salesforce DUGs from around the world will be meeting during this week, and all will be discussing mobile development and the new Salesforce Platform Mobile Services.  Tom Gersic, who is a Director, Technical Solutions for will be speaking.


We'll be focusing on mobile development for -- what comes available to users out of the box, and some of the many ways to get up and running quickly with developing custom mobile apps on the Salesforce Platform using skills that Salesforce developers already have, like Apex/Visualforce, Javascript, and HTML5. We'll be discussing the new Salesforce Platform Mobile Services launch, and the we'll do a hands-on walkthrough of building an iOS app using the Salesforce Mobile SDKs and the new Mobile Packs.


Anyone wanting to follow along with the hands-on activities should set up a new DE org at and also clone the Salesforce iOS SDK from Github and install it with the instructions given in the file.

Tom Gersic:

Tom Gersic works as Director, Technical Solutions for, where he leads Mobile Delivery and Development at Model Metrics. His work has included architecting commercial and enterprise deployments of many mobile apps, including the largest-ever enterprise deployment of an iPad application. He is also a frequent speaker at events such as Dreamforce, Cloudstock, and Cloudforce, and his work has been featured in keynotes at these events. Tom has also developed simulation software for the US military, the Department of Homeland Security, and FEMA, in addition to enterprise applications for multiple Fortune 100 companies. He taught at Northwestern University as an Adjunct Professor in 2008, where he also completed his graduate studies in 2005, working with adaptive signal processing and synthesis. He is the author of a chapter in the book "Playing the Past,"  a collection of academic writings on the subject of game studies, and has also written a number of smaller Windows and OSX applications, available for download from his website,
